Byron Stewart Dinkins, born on June 15, 1967, is a former American professional basketball player. He played for two seasons in the NBA (National Basketball Association) from 1989 to 1991. Before joining the NBA, he played college basketball at UNC Charlotte. After his time in the NBA, Byron Dinkins had a successful career playing basketball in Greece.

College Basketball Career
Byron Dinkins was born in Charlotte, North Carolina. He went to East Mecklenburg High School and played basketball there. After high school, he was recruited to play college basketball at the UNC Charlotte.
He played for the Charlotte 49ers for four seasons. As a point guard, he was great at scoring and passing. In 107 games, he averaged about 15.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.2 steals per game.
During his third year, called his junior season, Dinkins had his best scoring year. He averaged 21.4 points per game. He helped his team win the Sun Belt Conference Tournament title. Because of his amazing play, he was named the Sun Belt Player of the Year. He was also chosen for the All-Sun Belt Conference First Team in both his junior and senior years.
Professional Basketball Career
Playing in the NBA
Byron Dinkins played in the NBA for a short time. He played with the Houston Rockets during the 1989–90 season. The next season (1990–91), he played for both the San Antonio Spurs and the Indiana Pacers.
In total, Dinkins played in 45 NBA games. He scored 151 points, which means he averaged about 3.4 points per game during his NBA career.
Success in Greece
Even though he didn't play in the NBA after 1991, Byron Dinkins had a very successful professional basketball career overseas. He played in the Greek League for several teams. These teams included Peristeri Athens, Panionios Athens, Panathinaikos Athens, and Iraklis Thessaloniki.
Dinkins was known for his passing skills. In the 1995–96 season, he led the Greek League in assists per game. In September 1996, while playing for Panathinaikos, he helped his team win the FIBA Intercontinental Cup. This was a big international championship.
Life After Basketball
After his basketball career, Byron Dinkins returned to his hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina. Today, he is the head coach for the varsity boys' basketball team at Carmel Christian School. He also works as a gym teacher for the middle school there. Professional basketball player K. C. Rivers is his nephew.
