Comunicaciones Fútbol Club S.A. is a famous football team from Guatemala City. People often call them Comunicaciones F.C. or just Comunicaciones. They play in the Liga Nacional, which is the top football league in Guatemala.

Comunicaciones is one of the most popular and successful football clubs in Guatemala. They have won 32 national championships, which is more than any other team in Guatemala. They even won six championships in a row! Besides these league titles, they have also won eight league cups and ten Supercups. In international games, Comunicaciones has won two UNCAF Interclub Cups, one CONCACAF Champions Cup, and one CONCACAF League championship.

The team plays its home games at the Estadio Cementos Progreso. This stadium can hold up to 17,000 fans.

History of Comunicaciones F.C.

Comunicaciones started a long time ago, even before 1949. It was formed from older teams like Hospicio FC and España in the 1920s. The club officially became "Comunicaciones" in 1949. This happened when Colonel Carlos Aldana Sandoval, who was in charge of Telegraphs and Communications, took over the team. He renamed it Comunicaciones, which means "Communications" in Spanish.

The club's main color is white. They started using white uniforms shortly after the club was founded. Before that, their uniforms were cream-colored.

Comunicaciones has a big rivalry with another team called Municipal. Their games are known as El Clásico Chapín, and it's one of the biggest rivalries in Guatemalan football. They also have strong rivalries with Antigua, called El Clasico Provincial, and with Xelajú from Quetzaltenango, known as El Clásico del Oeste.

Comunicaciones F.C. Supporters

Since the club began, fans from all parts of Guatemalan society have supported Comunicaciones. In the 1980s, organized fan groups started to grow. These groups would cheer with songs, throw chopped paper, release balloons, and wave blankets. This created a new way for fans to support their team in Guatemala.

Because of the thousands of fans all over the country, the club's supporters became known as the "Millionaire Fans." Today, Comunicaciones fans are special in Guatemala. They have adopted a "South American breath" style of cheering. This means everyone in the stadium sings together, making a unique and exciting atmosphere.

The Vltra Svr Fan Group

In the early 1990s, the first official organized fan group was formed. It was called Fuerza Crema. This group was the biggest in Guatemala, with over 2,500 members. They usually sat in the Preference area of the stadium.

However, in 1996, some members left Fuerza Crema and formed a new group called Vltra Svr (Ultra Sur). They chose this name because they sit in the General South area of the stadium. This group is known for singing throughout the entire match. They also organize special welcomes for the team, wave large flags, and do marches. These things were not common in Guatemalan football before.

The Vltra Svr group uses big blankets, flags, umbrellas, and drums with trumpets to cheer on the club. They even have a huge drum brought all the way from Chile. In the beginning, this group had more than 3,000 members during important matches.

Comunicaciones F.C. Mascot

Casper the Friendly Ghost

The official mascot of Comunicaciones is the ghost Casper. Casper has been with the club since 1985. The team's president at the time, Teddy Plocharski, brought Casper from Miami in September 1985. It cost $2,000 (about 15,392.65 Quetzales). Casper was the first mascot ever used by a football team in Central America!

Casper first appeared at the Doroteo Guamuch stadium on September 8, 1985. It was during the 124th "classic" match, where Comunicaciones beat Municipal 3 to 1. The Casper costume has been updated three times since it was first made. The first changes were in 1995 and the second in 1998. The 1998 version is still used today.

Comunicaciones F.C. Stadium

The Comunicaciones team currently plays its home games at the Estadio Doroteo Guamuch Flores. This stadium can hold 26,000 people. They used to play at the Estadio Cementos Progreso. Now, their "B team" plays its games there in the Primera División.
