Charlton Bath Forgotston, Jr., known as C. B. Forgotston (born January 19, 1945 – died January 3, 2016), was an American lawyer and a person who shared his opinions on politics. He was also known as a "state government watchdog" because he kept a close eye on how the government in Louisiana was working.

For seven years, he was the main lawyer for the Appropriations Committee in the Louisiana House of Representatives. This committee helps decide how the state's money is spent. C. B. Forgotston faced a long battle with bipolar disorder, a type of mental illness. He passed away in early 2016, shortly before his 71st birthday.

About C. B. Forgotston

Forgotston was born in Newellton, Louisiana. His parents were Charlton Bath Forgotston and Elsa de Vries. His father owned an electric company and was part of the Newellton Town Council for twenty years.

In 2013, Forgotston spoke out against a plan by Governor Bobby Jindal. The plan was to stop the Louisiana state income tax and instead increase sales taxes. Forgotston believed this plan would not work. He correctly predicted that the state's lawmakers would not approve it. He thought this because sales taxes would be higher, and the plan would not get enough support from both political parties. He also thought it might not bring in more money for the state.

After Governor Jindal stopped the plan, the Louisiana Republican Party criticized Forgotston.

His Later Life and What He Left Behind

C. B. Forgotston continued to work as a lawyer until he passed away. He and his wife, Ella Joy "E. J." Adams, moved to Hammond, Louisiana, after Hurricane Katrina hit their home in New Orleans. Ella Joy was an interior decorator.

Many people remembered Forgotston for his honesty and courage. His friend, Garey Forster, who was a former state representative, said that Forgotston had the "guts to say what others wouldn't say." He also said that Forgotston "always had his facts right." Another writer, James Gill, called Forgotston "The king of the subversive bloggers." Forgotston himself joked, "I don’t just burn bridges, I blow them up." This meant he wasn't afraid to challenge powerful people or ideas.

Moon Griffon, a radio talk show host, often had Forgotston as a guest. Griffon hopes to keep Forgotston's website online. This way, people can still find information about Louisiana government that Forgotston shared.

In a message on Forgotston's website, his wife, E. J. Forgotston, talked about his clinical depression. She explained that in his last weeks, it was very hard to find the right medicines to help him. She also shared that his mother had mental health challenges when C. B. was young. E. J. Forgotston said that her husband was not an unhappy person. Instead, he suffered from a mental illness that he could no longer control at the end of his life.
