History of the Iberian Settlement
This ancient village was home to the Iberians, who were people living in the Iberian Peninsula a long time ago. At first, the settlement had simple houses built close together. As time went on, the village grew. The houses became bigger and more varied.
The settlement became very successful. The Iberians built a special road to get in and out. They also dug a moat, which is like a ditch, for protection. They even had a "field of silos." These were big pits in the ground used to store extra farm products. They would sell these products to other towns around the Mediterranean Sea.
Destruction and Rebuilding
The Ca n'Oliver settlement was damaged around the end of the 3rd century BC or the start of the 2nd century BC. This happened because of the Punic Wars (218-206 BC). These were big wars between Rome and Carthage.
Even after being damaged, the Iberians rebuilt their village. However, when the Romans took over the area, they brought new ways of organizing the land. Because of these changes, the Iberians eventually left the settlement for good.
Life in the Middle Ages
Many centuries later, during the 9th and 10th centuries, people came back to live at Ca n'Oliver. This was during the high Middle Ages. They used some of the old Iberian buildings and silos that were still there.
Ca n'Oliver Museum

On October 1, 2010, the Ca n’Oliver Iberian Settlement and Museum officially opened. The museum is built in the settlement's old quarry. It shows many interesting objects found during the digs.
The museum is part of 'The Route of the Iberians'. This is a special project by the Archaeology Museum of Catalonia. It helps people learn about Iberian culture in Catalonia by visiting different sites. The museum has a modern center that helps visitors understand more about the Iberians.
