Calabria is a beautiful region located in the very south of Italy. It forms the "toe" of Italy's famous boot shape. The capital of Calabria is Catanzaro.

Calabria is almost completely surrounded by the sea, with the Tyrrhenian Sea to the west and the Ionian Sea to the east. It is separated from the island of Sicily by the narrow Strait of Messina. In 2004, about 2,009,506 people lived in Calabria.

Calabria has a unique and delicious food culture. Many dishes use local ingredients.
