History of Calico Rock
Calico Rock got its name from a special rock formation. Early settlers thought this colorful rock looked like calico, which is a type of patterned fabric.
Geography and Location
Calico Rock is found in the northwestern part of Izard County. It sits right on the north bank of the White River. The town of Pineville is just to its north.
The city covers a total area of about 4.81 square miles (12.47 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a small part being water.
