History of Camden
Camden's post office opened in 1833. The town itself was officially planned and laid out in 1836. This process is called "platting."
Several important buildings in Camden are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means they are recognized for their historical value. These include the Camden Masonic Temple, the New 1952 Camden High School Gymnasium, and the Andrew Thomas House. The Andrew Thomas House now serves as the Jackson Township Public Library and Museum.
