The Cammeraygal people were an important Aboriginal group in Australia. They were one of 29 clans that belonged to the larger Darug language group. The Cammeraygal people were skilled at hunting, fishing, and gathering food. They lived in family groups or clans on the Lower North Shore of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
Where the Cammeraygal Lived
The traditional lands of the Cammeraygal people covered a large area. Today, this area includes parts of North Sydney, Willoughby, Mosman, Manly, and Warringah. The Cammeraygal people lived in this region for about 5,800 years. They continued to live there until the 1820s.
Cammeraygal Legacy Today
The name Cammeraygal is still honored in the area today. It is shown on the official symbol of the North Sydney Municipal area. The suburb of Cammeray in North Sydney is named after them. Also, Cammeraygal High School in Crows Nest carries their name. In 1999, the North Sydney Council put up a special monument. This monument honors the Cammeraygal tribe as the traditional owners of the North Sydney area.

- Barangaroo was a well-known Cammeraygal woman. She was the second wife of Bennelong, another important Aboriginal person from that time.
