Campillos is a town and municipality in southern Spain. It is located in the Province of Málaga, which is part of the Andalusia region. Campillos is found in the northwest part of the province.

The town is about 30 kilometers (18 miles) from Antequera and 70 kilometers (43 miles) from the city of Málaga. Campillos covers an area of 188 square kilometers (72 square miles). This area includes large fields of grain and olive trees. You can also find several lakes here, which are home to beautiful birds like flamingos and storks.

About 8,500 people live in Campillos. People from Campillos are called Campilleros. A popular place to visit is the old church, Our Lady of Repose (Iglesia Parroquial Nuestra Señora del Reposo). It is located near the main town square.

Campillos was founded a long time ago, in the year 1492. Today, it is also known for hosting the Campillos International Piano Competition, which started in 2007.

What is Campillos like?

Campillos is part of a group of towns called the Guadalteba comarca. A comarca is like a local area or district. Other towns in this area include Almargen, Ardales, and Teba.

Years ago, a town called Peñarrubia was also part of Campillos. However, it disappeared in the 1970s. This happened because a large water reservoir, called the Guadalteba reservoir, was built there.
