What Was Campo Blenio?
Campo Blenio was a small community in Switzerland. It was like a local government area, similar to a small town or village. It was nestled in the beautiful Blenio valley.
Its Location in Switzerland
This former municipality was found in the southern part of Switzerland. It was part of the Ticino canton, which is one of Switzerland's 26 states. The Blenio district was its specific region.
The Big Change: Joining Blenio
Campo Blenio no longer exists as a separate municipality today. On January 25, 2005, the local government decided to make a big change. Campo Blenio would join with four other nearby municipalities. These were Aquila, Ghirone, Olivone, and Torre.
This group of five towns officially merged on October 22, 2006. They formed one new, larger municipality. This new municipality was named Blenio. So, Campo Blenio became a part of this bigger community.
