Canada Lake, sometimes called Stink Lake, is a beautiful lake in the Town of Caroga in Fulton County, New York State, U.S.A. It's special because it's very deep. This depth keeps the water cold, which is perfect for fish like trout to live in.
Canada Lake is part of a group of lakes that includes Lily Lake, West Lake, and Green Lake. The water level of Canada Lake is controlled each year by a special structure at Stewart Landing.

History of Canada Lake
Canada Lake became a popular place for vacations a long time ago. In the 1840s, a road was built along the lake's north shore. This made it much easier for people to get to the lake.
Soon after, homes and hotels started to appear around the lake. Tourists would ride on wood-burning steamboats across the water. Canada Lake quickly became a favorite vacation spot. Many of the small cabins, called cottages, that you see around Canada Lake and the nearby Green and West Lakes were built in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
