History of Canton
Canton got its first post office in 1882. It officially became a city in 1887. The city was named after another city called Canton, Ohio. Long ago, people could travel to Canton by train. There was a train station here.
Geography of Canton
Canton is a small city, covering about 1 square mile (2.67 square kilometers) of land. It is located right next to U.S. Highway 52. You can also find it along Fillmore County Road 21, which is also called Main Street. Canton is about five miles from Harmony. It is also about nine miles from Mabel.
