What is the Canton of Echternach?
The Canton of Echternach is a region known for its beautiful nature and rich history. It's located in the eastern part of Luxembourg, close to the border with Germany. This area is famous for its stunning landscapes, including forests, rock formations, and rivers.
Exploring the Communes
Inside the Canton of Echternach, there are smaller local areas called communes. You can think of communes as towns or groups of villages that have their own local governments. The Canton of Echternach is made up of seven of these communes:

For example, on January 1, 2018, two communes named Rosport and Mompach merged. They became one new commune called Rosport-Mompach. This change was planned for a long time, with the law for it passed in 2011.
