Cool Facts About Canyon Ski Resort
Canyon Ski Resort has an interesting history. In the 1960s, it was one of the first ski hills in Canada to use special machines to make artificial snow. This meant they could open earlier in the season, even if there wasn't much natural snow.
Because of its early opening, the Canadian National Ski team used Canyon Ski Resort for their training back in the 1960s. More recently, Canyon Ski Resort was chosen to host big events for the 2019 Canada Winter Games. Skiers and snowboarders competed here in alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, and snowboarding.
Where is the Resort Located?
The main lodge at Canyon Ski Resort is at the bottom of the ski runs. It's nestled in a river valley. The top of the ski lifts are up on the flat land above the valley, which is mostly farmland. Sometimes, when you get off the triple chairlift, you might even see cattle grazing nearby!
