Capac is a small village located in Mussey Township, within St. Clair County. This area is part of the U.S. state of Michigan. In 2010, about 1,890 people lived here. By 2020, the population had grown to 1,983 residents.

History of Capac
Capac was started in 1857 by a group of men from Romeo. George R. Funstan and Judge DeWitt C. Walker were key figures. Judge Walker named the village after Huayna Capac. He was a powerful leader, known as the Sapa Inca, of the ancient Inca Empire.
A nearby post office called "Pinery" moved to Capac in January 1858. It was then renamed "Capac." The Grand Trunk Railroad opened a train station here in 1866. This helped the village grow. Capac officially became a village in 1873.
Famous People from Capac
Some interesting people have connections to Capac.
- Preston Tucker was born near Capac in 1903. He was a car designer. He created the unique 1948 Tucker Sedan. A movie about him, Tucker: The Man and a Dream, was made in 1988.
- Roman Gribbs grew up near Capac. He later became the mayor of Detroit. He served as mayor from 1970 to 1974.
