Story Summary

Part 1: The Night of the Nasty Nostril Nuggets

It's demonstration day at school! George and Harold show off their "Squishy" prank. It's just two ketchup packets under a toilet seat. But then Melvin Sneedly takes over. He wants everyone to watch his "Combine-o-Tron 2000" machine.

Melvin uses his pet hamster, Sulu, and a robot hamster body for his demonstration. He tells Sulu to do tricks. But Sulu is super smart and actually spanks Melvin! George and Harold think Sulu is awesome and adopt him.

Meanwhile, Ms. Ribble uses a Squishy on Mr. Krupp. He's already grumpy and thinks George and Harold are behind it. Mr. Krupp finds the boys in the lunchroom. Melvin quickly tells on them, and Mr. Krupp sends them to detention. While there, George and Harold draw a funny Captain Underpants comic. It makes fun of Melvin.

Melvin reads the comic and gets really mad. He goes home and builds a super-strong robot. He plans to combine himself with it using his Combine-o-Tron. But Melvin sneezes at the last second because of his allergy to cats. He accidentally combines with the robot and some boogers! This turns him into the gross Bionic Booger Boy. He even gets his own special drinking fountain.

Soon, the cold and flu season starts. The class visits a tissue factory. The owner, Mr. Snoddy, offers free tissues. But Melvin starts to grow huge as a natural defense! George quickly turns Mr. Krupp into Captain Underpants. Captain Underpants saves his secretary, Miss Edith Anthrope. Her wet kisses turn him back into Mr. Krupp. Then, Melvin swallows Mr. Krupp! But Sulu saves the day. He uses giant novelty items from a warehouse to defeat Melvin.

George suggests reversing the batteries in the Combine-o-Tron. Surprisingly, it works! Three robotic booger globs fly off. But something weird happens: Mr. Krupp and Melvin accidentally switch brains! Melvin (in Mr. Krupp's body) brags about the Combine-o-Tron. Mr. Krupp (in Melvin's body) tries to get the boys in trouble. Suddenly, the booger globs come alive and smash the Combine-o-Tron!

Part 2: The Revenge of the Ridiculous Robo-Boogers

The booger globs start chasing George, Harold, Sulu, Melvin, and Mr. Krupp. They reach a dead end. Sulu saves them by spitting the globs into outer space! After some crazy events, George and Harold realize Mr. Krupp and Melvin have switched bodies.

Melvin says it would take him six months to build another machine. George suggests going back in time. This makes Melvin snap his fingers, turning Mr. Krupp into Captain Underpants. Captain Underpants flies away! George and Harold have to tell Melvin their secret. Melvin then orders them to create a comic about him. He starts building a new machine.

The next day, Melvin is angry. The comic shows him as uncool. He explains that using the time machine two days in a row could cause a disaster. He also gives them the "Forgetchamacallit 2000." This device makes people forget things for a short time. George and Harold decide to go back two days to get Melvin's original Combine-o-Tron 2000.

However, the boys accidentally land in the Cretaceous period! They find a female Quetzalcoatlus and name her "Crackers." They then travel to a time when Miss Singerbrains is driving to the police station. George convinces her she's dreaming because of the dinosaur. Harold sends Crackers back to her time. Then they erase Miss Singerbrains' memory. They grab the Combine-o-Tron and travel back to the present.

Meanwhile, Captain Underpants is helping two old ladies cross the street. He saves a cat from a tree at the same time. But he accidentally leaves the ladies stuck up in the tree! They, along with other people Captain Underpants has annoyed, form an angry mob. Melvin (who is still in Mr. Krupp's body) finds Captain Underpants. He uses the machine to switch their brains back to normal.

In space, the boogers land on a spaceship. They hold on as it returns to Earth. Then they start destroying the space center! Captain Underpants flies off to help. But he discovers that "Big Melvin" (Melvin in his own body) has taken his powers! Big Melvin refuses to help unless George and Harold change the comic.

Captain Underpants and the boys are trapped at a local store. Captain Underpants starts throwing random items. By chance, one of the boogers, Carl, is destroyed when he swallows an orange. The other boogers become careful. Captain Underpants then does a silly "Underpants Dance." This makes the boogers climb up a building he chose. They fall right into a well-placed "Squishy" made of oranges!

Soon, "Big Melvin" lies to the Eyewitness News crew. He even spanks Captain Underpants! George and Harold sneak back to school. They return with the machines. Captain Underpants gets his powers back. Then, the news crew and audience's memories are erased. The angry mob finds Melvin (who no longer has superpowers) and chases him!

When the boys return to their clubhouse, George finds out Harold didn't really send Crackers back. Harold is keeping Crackers as another pet! George agrees she can stay for one night. But the next day, when George, Harold, and Sulu are ready to take Crackers back, the time machine breaks down.

Comics

Captain Underpants and the Terrifying Tale of the Tattle-Tron 2000

This comic is from Part 1. Melvin is a huge snitch who tells on everyone. One day, Melvin tells the police about a bank robber. This makes him so famous that he wins an election easily. Melvin becomes Mayor. Over time, people make him the town's protector. The jails fill up so fast that he has to build a giant robot jail.

Captain Underpants easily escapes the robot jail. He doesn't want to hurt the people inside. So, he pours a giant bottle of "Mrs. Plop's Prune Juice" into the robot jail's mouth. This makes it shoot out all the prisoners! He then breaks open Melvin's glass dome. Melvin is sent to the "jail for dumb kids." The town goes back to normal.

Captain Underpants and the War of the Willy Wonder Nerd

This comic is from Part 2. A barrel of toxic waste falls on a cotton field. The cotton grows to an amazing size. One day, it's made into "Glow In the Dark underwear." Melvin's mother buys him a pair from a big sale. Overnight, Melvin grows into a giant!

The police spot him the next morning and call the military. Then Captain Underpants flies in. He notices a tag on the underwear that says it will shrink if washed. Melvin takes Captain Underpants to the lake. His underwear gets soaked. Captain Underpants asks a passing bird to pop Melvin, which it does! Melvin is then sent to a "Jail for Dumb Stupid Nerds."
