Captain Underpants and the Sensational Saga of Sir Stinks-A-Lot is the twelfth and last book in the super popular Captain Underpants series. It was written and illustrated by Dav Pilkey. This exciting adventure continues right after the eleventh book. In this story, George, Harold, and their look-alike clones switch places. But they soon discover that their gym teacher, Mr. Meaner, has turned into a smelly villain called Sir Stinks-A-Lot! He plans to turn all the students into robot-like slaves. Now, George and Harold, along with their older selves from the future, must team up to save the world before it's too late!

The Story Begins

The book starts with a special message from Dav Pilkey. He says that this book is made just for kids.

On a planet called "Smart Earth," a scientist tries a weird experiment. He mixes smart Diet Coke, smart Pop Rocks, and smart Mentos. This causes Smart Earth to explode! One piece of the exploding planet lands in a grape garden. The grapes become super smart and try to fight humans, but they dry out.

Another piece lands at a special home for people who see things differently. Mr. Meaner, the gym teacher, eats a piece of this smart chunk. He instantly becomes super smart! He tries to leave, but two doctors block his way. Mr. Meaner confuses them with his new smarts, and he and other teachers escape. He tells them they must go back to their jobs.

Mr. Meaner's Evil Plan

Mr. Meaner turns an old, empty factory into his own secret lab. There, he creates a strange, stinky substance. He calls it "Rid-O-Kid 2000." It's made from sweaty gym socks!

One day, young George and Harold are called to his office. Mr. Meaner sprays them with his Rid-O-Kid 2000. It turns them into robot-like slaves! The other teachers are amazed by how well-behaved George and Harold become. But the other George and Harold (their clones) are not happy. They feel sick from too much homework.

They see a TV commercial for the "Rid-O-Kid 2000." So, they dress up like adults. They make the enslaved kids do silly things for the teachers. The teachers get angry and call Mr. Meaner. He sees what's happening and gets furious. He brings out his "Stinky Kong 2000," which is a giant robot suit!

Seeking Help

George and Harold decide to ask their parents for help. But they find out their parents already knew about the change and liked it! Feeling sad, they go to Melvin's house. They find his Robo-Squid, a cool robot.

They use the Robo-Squid to travel into the future. They find older versions of George and Harold. These older versions are now famous writers of graphic novels. But young George and Harold are also disappointed with their future selves.

The younger George and Harold, along with their older selves, travel back in time. They go to find Mr. Krupp, their principal. The older George and Harold try to snap their fingers to turn him into Captain Underpants. But Mr. Krupp had just washed his face, so he couldn't transform. Mr. Meaner beats them up while Mr. Krupp is still wet. Once Mr. Krupp's face dries, they snap their fingers again. He finally turns into Captain Underpants! Captain Underpants defeats Mr. Meaner and sends him to jail.

Sir Stinks-A-Lot Attacks!==

After eating an egg salad sandwich with pickle relish and something radioactive, Mr. Meaner changes again. He turns into a giant, stinky blob! He is now called Sir Stinks-A-Lot. He starts causing a lot of trouble downtown.

Captain Underpants returns to fight him. But Sir Stinks-A-Lot captures and absorbs Old George and Old Harold. He then discovers Captain Underpants' secret weakness! He splashes water from Franz Pond on Captain Underpants. This turns him back into Mr. Krupp. Mr. Krupp falls down but is still safe because of his superpowers.

Sir Stinks-A-Lot then uses his own powers to drain Captain Underpants' powers. He also takes away the effects of the 3D Hypno Ring. He runs away screaming. Old George and Harold, from inside the blob, telepathically call for help. They call Tony, Orlando, and Dawn, who are the children of their pets, Sulu and Crackers.

These three super hamsterdactyls arrive! They feed Sir Stinks-A-Lot Mentos, Diet Coke, and Pop Rocks. This makes him explode! Luckily, the three hamsterdactyls, Old George, Old Harold, and Mr. Meaner are all safe. Mr. Meaner is back to normal.

The End of an Era

Things go back to how they were. Young George and Harold take their older selves back to their own time. They find that Mr. Krupp no longer turns into Captain Underpants when they snap their fingers. Mr. Meaner had somehow erased Captain Underpants from existence!

Harold is a little confused at first. But he, George, and their older selves don't seem to mind much. Since there are two Georges and two Harolds, they decide to use Melvin's time machine. They want to find their lost pets, Crackers and Sulu.

The younger George and Harold (the clones) wake up. They find that Tony, Orlando, Dawn, and the other George and Harold are gone. They go back to their treehouse. Young Harold thinks they should make another Captain Underpants comic book. But young George decides they should stop making Captain Underpants comics. Instead, they should create a new comic book featuring Dog Man! This decision leads to their future selves becoming famous writers, as seen by the younger George and Harold.

This is where the book and the series end. Unlike other Captain Underpants adventures, George and Harold don't say their famous lines, "Oh, no!" and "Here we go again!"

Comic: Dog Man: The Bark Knight Cometh

This is a bonus comic chapter in the book. In this comic, Dog Man attacks some police officers. He then reveals he is actually Petey the cat! Petey tries to slice them with his sword. But from above, Dog Man appears as his superhero self, "The Bark Knight!" He falls towards Petey and breaks his sword with his bone nunchucks.

The two begin to fight. Petey shoots rockets from his hands, showing he's actually Mecha-Petey, a robot version of Petey! He attacks Dog Man. Then, Milly, a police officer, kicks Mecha-Petey in the face. This removes his face and shows he's actually Porkbelly, an angelfish!
