Captree State Park is a fun place to visit in New York! It's a big park, about 340 acres, located in Suffolk County. This park is special because it's right on the water. It overlooks the Fire Island Inlet and parts of Fire Island. It's a perfect spot for anyone who loves boating, fishing, or just enjoying beautiful views. You can see the Atlantic Ocean and the Great South Bay from here.
You can get to Captree State Park using the Robert Moses Causeway and the Ocean Parkway. The park is mainly for boating and fishing. Many charter boats are ready to take you on fishing trips.
What Makes Captree Park Special?

Captree State Park is home to "The Captree Fleet." This is a group of about 24 to 28 boats. These boats are available for fishing trips and scuba diving. You can also take sightseeing tours. It's the biggest public fishing fleet on Long Island!
Fishing Adventures
If you love to fish, this is the place to be. People often catch fish like flounder, fluke, and sea bass. You can fish from the piers or go out on a boat.
Fun Things to Do
The park has a marina where boats can dock. There's also a place to launch your own boat. You can enjoy a picnic at one of the many tables. There's even a restaurant if you get hungry. Kids can have fun at the playground.
There are two piers where you can fish or go crabbing. If you have a kayak, there's a special spot to launch it.
Events and Festivals
Every year, Captree State Park hosts the Fall Harvest and Seafood Festival. It's a great time to enjoy food and fun activities. The park also has several fishing tournaments. These are called "derbies."
You can even learn to fish for free! The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and New York Sea Grant offer a free saltwater fishing clinic each year.
Like most New York State Parks, there is a small fee for vehicles to enter. This helps keep the park clean and fun for everyone.
