Cardcaptor Sakura Movie 2: The Sealed Card (劇場版カードキャプターさくら 封印されたカード, Gekijōban Kādokyaputā Sakura Fūin Sareta Kādo) is a Japanese anime film from 2000. It was directed by Morio Asaka and written by Nanase Ōkawa. The animation was made by Madhouse.

This movie is a follow-up and the ending to the Cardcaptor Sakura TV show. The show was based on a manga by Clamp. This is the second full-length movie from the series. The story follows Sakura Kinomoto as she faces the last Clow Card. She also deals with her feelings for Syaoran Li.

The film won the Feature Film Award at the 2000 Animation Kobe. It was released on DVD in 2003. In 2018, it had a small release in US theaters. Later that year, Discotek Media released it on Blu-ray. The story continued in 2018 with Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card.

Story of the Movie

A new amusement park is being built in Tomoeda. When Eriol's old house is torn down, it accidentally awakens a special Clow Card called The Nothing. This card was hidden deep underground. The Nothing card hides in the park's clock tower. It secretly starts stealing other Clow Cards from their owner, Sakura Kinomoto.

Sakura has many things to deal with. She has the main role in her school's play for the Tomoeda festival. She also has strong feelings for her boyfriend, Syaoran Li. He told her he liked her before he went back to Hong Kong.

Sakura and her best friend, Tomoyo Daidoji, visit the new amusement park. Sakura feels a strange magic there. She runs into the park and bumps into Syaoran and Meiling Li. Tomoyo and Meiling had planned their visit. They hoped it would help Sakura tell Syaoran how she feels.

Tomoyo and Meiling quickly leave, so Sakura can invite Syaoran to dinner. Sakura tries to tell Syaoran her feelings. But she is interrupted by Kero, a guardian of the Clow Cards. Then her brother Toya and his friend Yukito Tsukishiro arrive.

Over the next few days, Sakura and her friends practice for the play. Sakura tries many times to tell Syaoran her feelings. But each time, something stops her. They also notice that things in the city are disappearing. A bridge in the local park vanishes.

Sakura, Syaoran, Tomoyo, and Meiling spend a day at the amusement park. Sakura and Syaoran end up on a Ferris wheel together. Sakura tries to confess again. But they both see one of the Clow Cards disappear. They follow its magic to a hall of mirrors. There, they meet The Nothing. It steals more of Sakura's cards.

Eriol Hiiragizawa contacts Sakura and Kero from England. He explains that The Nothing was made to balance the Clow Cards' positive magic. It balances this with Sakura's own negative magic. The Nothing was released because Sakura changed the cards' power. She changed them from Clow Reed's power to her own. Now, every time The Nothing steals a card, a part of Tomoeda disappears.

Eriol warns Sakura that if she seals The Nothing card, her strongest feeling will be erased. This means her love for Syaoran will vanish as payment. Sakura tells Syaoran this news. But he believes this sacrifice is their only choice. Sakura runs off crying. But Yue, the second guardian of the cards, comforts her. Yue is Yukito's true form.

During another play rehearsal, The Nothing attacks the school. Takashi Yamazaki, who was supposed to act with Sakura, gets hurt. So, Syaoran steps in to take his place.

During the play, The Nothing's power spreads. It erases many of Sakura's loved ones. This includes Tomoyo, Meiling, and Sakura's family. Sakura, Syaoran, Kero, and Yue go to the amusement park. They battle The Nothing. It erases Kero and Yue too. Syaoran attacks The Nothing on the Ferris wheel. But he gets caught in its destructive magic and vanishes.

Sakura chases The Nothing to the clock tower. There, she loses all her cards except one. This unnamed card was created by Sakura's own magic. She made it after Syaoran left for Hong Kong. Sakura learns that The Nothing collected the cards because it did not want to be alone. Sakura promises that The Nothing will never be alone again. Then, she seals The Nothing card.

However, the required payment comes from Syaoran. He tells Sakura he will fall in love with her all over again. The Nothing and the nameless card combine into one. They become the Hope Card. Sakura cries and finally tells Syaoran she loves him. She is surprised when he says he feels the same way. The combination of the cards stopped the payment from happening. The Nothing's powers are then reversed. Tomoeda and its people are brought back. Sakura jumps across the rebuilding clock tower into Syaoran's arms. They are together at last.
