Carenza Rachel Lewis (born 30 November 1963) is a British archaeologist and television presenter. She is well-known for making archaeology exciting and easy to understand for everyone, especially through her work on the popular TV show Time Team.

Becoming an Archaeologist
Carenza Lewis went to All Hallows Convent School in Norfolk. After school, she studied archaeology and anthropology at Girton College, Cambridge. This is where she learned about ancient cultures and human history.
Starting Her Career
In 1985, Carenza joined the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England. Here, she worked as a field archaeologist in the Wessex area. This meant she helped discover and record historical sites in the field.
She also spent time at the University of Birmingham. There, she researched how old settlements and the surrounding landscape were connected in the East Midlands. Later, she did a similar project in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
Working at Universities
Carenza Lewis became a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London in 1998. This is an honor for people who have made important contributions to the study of antiquities.
In 1999, she became a visiting fellow at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. She worked there as a Senior Research Associate and a lecturer. In 2004, she started a new role at the University of Cambridge. Her goal was to encourage more students to study archaeology. She created a program called Access Cambridge Archaeology to help with this.
In 2015, Carenza Lewis was given a special title at the University of Lincoln. She became a Professor of 'Public Understanding of Research'. This means she helps people outside of universities understand important research.

Carenza Lewis is famous for bringing archaeology to television. She helped make it interesting for many people.
Time Team Adventures
In the early 1990s, she joined the team of a new TV show called Time Team. This show aimed to make archaeology easy for everyone to understand. It first aired in 1994 on Channel 4 Television.
Carenza was on Time Team from 1993 to 2005, appearing in every season for 12 years. The show was very popular, and its success led to more TV opportunities for Carenza.
Other TV Shows
She also presented a series called House Detectives from 1997 to 2002. This show explored the history of old houses.
In 2000, Carenza presented an episode of the BBC show What If. She looked at what might have happened if Queen Boudicca and the Iceni tribe had won their fight against the Roman Empire in AD 60. She also created and presented a series called Sacred Sites for HTV.
In 2010, she appeared in the TV series Michael Wood's Story of England. In 2022, she rejoined the Time Team crew for its return on YouTube.
