Carex cephalophora, often called the oval-leaf sedge or oval-headed sedge, is a type of flowering plant. It belongs to a large group of grass-like plants known as Carex, or sedges. This plant is naturally found in the central and eastern parts of the United States and southeastern Canada. It has also been introduced to Germany.

Where It Grows

The oval-leaf sedge likes to grow in certain places. You can often find it in old fields that have been left alone for a long time. These are called "late-succession" fields. Even if these fields have started to become shady woodlands, the oval-leaf sedge can still thrive there.
