Carlo Zotti is a former Italian professional footballer. He played as a goalkeeper, which means he was the player who guarded the goal. Zotti was born on September 3, 1982. He played for several football clubs during his career. He also represented Italy in youth national teams.
Playing for Football Clubs
Carlo Zotti started his football journey at A.S. Roma, a famous Italian club. However, it was hard for him to play many games for the first team. This was because Roma had many experienced goalkeepers. Some of these goalkeepers included Francesco Antonioli and Ivan Pelizzoli. He also had to compete with other young goalkeepers.
In 2004, Zotti signed a five-year contract with Roma. To get more playing time, he was loaned to Ascoli Calcio 1898 in 2005. A loan means a player temporarily moves to another club.
Zotti returned to Roma in 2006. But Roma had signed another goalkeeper, Julio Sergio Bertagnoli. This made Zotti the fourth-choice goalkeeper. It was difficult to find another club to loan him to. So, Zotti played for Roma's youth team, called the Primavera side, during the 2006–07 season. In January 2007, he was finally loaned to U.C. Sampdoria.
In 2008, Zotti joined AS Cittadella, a team in Serie B. Serie B is the second-highest division of Italian football. He ended his contract with Roma by agreement. On January 28, 2009, he moved to AC Bellinzona. This club is located in Switzerland.
Zotti joined another club in 2012. In September of that year, he had to leave a game early. This happened during an away match against FC Winterthur. He was substituted because of an injury. Later, he also played for FC Wil 1900 and FC Locarno in Switzerland.
Playing for Italy
Carlo Zotti also played for Italy's youth national teams. He was part of the Italy U21 squad. This team won the 2004 European Under-21 Football Championship. Even though Italy won, Zotti did not play in any games. He was an unused substitute. This means he was ready to play if needed, but the coach did not put him in the game.
