Carlos Daniel Franco (born on May 24, 1965) is a professional golfer from Paraguay. He plays on the PGA Tour Champions. Carlos is also the brother of another golfer, Ángel Franco.

Carlos grew up in Asunción, the capital city of Paraguay. His family was not wealthy. His father worked as a greenkeeper and a caddie at a golf course. All five of Carlos's brothers also became professional golfers. Carlos started his professional golf career in 1986. He has played in many countries around the world.

Early Career and Success

Carlos won more than 20 golf tournaments in Latin America. From 1994 to 1999, he won five times on the Japan Golf Tour. In 1994, he also won the Philippine Open title. This win was part of the Asia Golf Circuit, where he was named the top player that season.

Joining the PGA Tour

In 1999, Carlos Franco began playing on the PGA Tour in the United States. He was the first new player, called a "rookie," to earn over $1 million in one season. Because of his great performance, he won the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year award. He won four tournaments on the PGA Tour. Carlos was also ranked among the top 20 golfers in the world. In 2000, he reached his highest ranking at 16th place. He was also part of the International Team that won the 1998 Presidents Cup. This was a special achievement for a non-American golfer.

Later Tours and Achievements

After playing on the PGA Tour, Carlos also competed on the Web.com Tour and PGA Tour Latinoamérica. When he turned 50, he joined the Champions Tour, which is for older professional golfers.

In 2019, Carlos Franco won a silver medal at the Pan American Games. He was part of a mixed team with Fabrizio Zanotti, Julieta Granada, and Sofia García. In 2022, he won another silver medal at the 2022 South American Games in the mixed team event.
