College Football Days
After high school, Carlos played college football for the UAB Blazers. He played from 2001 to 2005. In 2004, he took a "redshirt" year because of a medical reason. A redshirt year means a player can practice with the team but not play in games. This lets them recover or develop more.

Carlos also spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He joined their practice squad on November 16, 2006. He was released briefly but then re-signed on December 29, 2006.
