Carlos B. Scott, Jr. (born July 2, 1960) is a former American football player. He was an offensive lineman who played for the St. Louis Cardinals in the National Football League (NFL). Carlos also played college football at UTEP.

Growing Up: Carlos Scott's Early Life
Carlos Scott was born on July 2, 1960, in Hempstead, Texas. He grew up in a nearby town called Waller. Carlos went to Waller High School. He was a talented athlete there.
High School Sports Star
At Waller High, Carlos played three different sports. He was on the football team, the basketball team, and the track team. In track, he was amazing at the shot put. He won the Texas Class 2A State shot put championship three times, from 1976 to 1978. For football, he earned special honors for being one of the best players in his district. He finished high school in 1978.
College Days: UTEP Football and Track
After high school, Carlos Scott went to the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). He received a scholarship to play sports there. He continued to play football and compete in track events.
College Football and Track Achievements
Carlos played football for UTEP from 1978 to 1981. In 1982, he was named the team's Most Valuable Player (MVP). For track, he competed in both shot put and discus. He was the WAC indoor shot put champion from 1980 to 1982. He also won the discus championship in 1980. Carlos later returned to UTEP. He graduated in 1989 with a degree in education.

Carlos Scott went on to play professional football in the NFL.
St. Louis Cardinals
The St. Louis Cardinals picked Carlos in the seventh round of the 1983 NFL draft. He played for the Cardinals for three seasons, from 1983 to 1985. During this time, he played in 45 games. He started one game in 1983. The Cardinals released Carlos from the team in August 1986.
Denver Broncos
In 1987, Carlos Scott was a replacement player for the Denver Broncos. This happened during the 1987 NFL players' strike. Even though he was part of the team, he did not play in any of the three replacement games.
After Football: Discus Success
After his NFL career, Carlos Scott continued to compete in discus events. He was very successful.
Major Discus Competitions
- In 1992, he finished fourth in the Olympic Trials.
- In 1994, he placed third in the USA Nationals.
- Also in 1994, he won first place in the US Olympic Festival discus championship.
- He was also a member of Team USA. He competed at the 1995 Pan American Games.
