Carlotta Ferlito facts for kids
Carlotta Ferlito (born 15 February 1995) is an Italian artistic gymnast. She started her senior career in 2011. Since then, Carlotta has won two medals at the European Championships. She also represented Italy at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics. Carlotta is the first Italian gymnast to perform a special move on the floor called the "Mustafina." This move is a triple turn with one leg held up high in a split.

Personal Life
Carlotta Ferlito was born on 15 February 1995. Her parents are Roberta Parasilti and Massimo Ferlito. She was born in Catania, Sicily, Italy. Carlotta has an older brother named Gianpaolo. She also has an older sister named Ludovica.
Gymnastics Career
Carlotta started gymnastics when she was six years old. In 2007, she moved to Lissone, near Milan. There, she trained at a gym called GAL Lissone.
Junior Career
2009 Competitions
In March 2009, Carlotta competed at the City of Jesolo Trophy in Italy. It was her first time at this event. She finished second in the all-around competition.
Later that year, in December, she competed at the Gymnasiade in Doha, Qatar. She placed sixth in the all-around. In the individual event finals, she won a silver medal on the balance beam.
2010 Competitions
In March 2010, Carlotta competed at the City of Jesolo Trophy again. The next month, she went to the 2010 European Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Birmingham. Her scores helped the Italian team win a bronze medal.
In August, Carlotta competed at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore. She won a bronze medal in the all-around final. She also earned a bronze medal on vault and a silver medal on balance beam.
Senior Career
2011 Competitions
In 2011, Carlotta competed as a senior for the first time. At the City of Jesolo Trophy, she placed fifth in the all-around. She also placed fifth at the 2011 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Berlin. At the European Championships, she won a silver medal on the balance beam.
In May, at the Italian Championships, Carlotta placed second in the all-around. She also won gold medals on balance beam and floor. In October, Carlotta competed at her first 2011 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Tokyo. Italy's team finished ninth, just missing out on a guaranteed spot for the 2012 Olympics.
2012 Competitions
In January 2012, Carlotta competed at the London Prepares series. This was Italy's last chance to qualify a full team for the Olympics. The Italian team finished first and successfully qualified! Carlotta also won a gold medal on balance beam at this event.
In May, at the 2012 European Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Brussels, Carlotta helped the Italian team win a bronze medal. In July, Carlotta competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. She finished 21st in the all-around final. Her scores also helped the Italian team finish seventh in the team final.
2013–2014 Competitions
In April 2013, Carlotta competed at the 2013 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Moscow. She finished fourth on balance beam and fifth on floor.
In October, she competed at the 2013 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Antwerp. She finished 11th in the all-around final. She also placed fifth in the balance beam final. In 2014, Carlotta was sick with mononucleosis. She spent several months recovering from her illness and injuries.
2015 Competitions
In March 2015, Carlotta won a bronze medal on balance beam at the City of Jesolo Trophy. She was chosen to compete at the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. She helped the Italian team qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics. Carlotta finished 12th in the all-around final at the World Championships.
2016 Competitions

Carlotta was the only Italian gymnast at the 2016 American Cup. She finished fifth there.
At the 2016 City of Jesolo Trophy in March, Carlotta had a fall on the balance beam. She was taken to the hospital, but thankfully, scans showed no serious injuries.
At the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Carlotta finished 12th in the all-around final. The Italian team finished tenth in the team qualifications.
2019 Competitions
In 2019, Carlotta won a gold medal on floor exercise at the Summer Universiade. She also won a bronze medal with her team at the same event.
Television
From 2011 to 2013, Carlotta was a star on a reality TV show. It was called Gymnasts: Parallel Lives and aired on MTV Italy. The show followed the lives of different top gymnasts training in Milan.
In 2018, Carlotta was on the Italian version of the talent show Dance Dance Dance. She danced with a partner named Frank Chamizo. They were the fourth pair to be eliminated from the show.
