Carme Pinós's Journey in Architecture
Early Life and Education
Carme Pinós finished her architecture studies at the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB) in 1979. She went back to study Urbanism in 1981. Urbanism is about planning and designing cities and towns.
Working with Enric Miralles
From 1982 to 1991, Carme Pinós worked with her husband, Enric Miralles. They created many important projects together. Some of their well-known designs include the Igualada Cemetery Park. They also designed the Archery Range Buildings for the 1992 Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona. Another project was the La Llauna School in Badalona. Their work won several awards during this time.
Starting Her Own Studio
In 1991, Carme Pinós started her own architecture studio. She continued to work on projects that had begun with her previous office. These included the Community Centre and Auditorium in Hostalets de Balanya. She also worked on the La Mina Community Centre and a Boarding School in Morella.
Teaching and Inspiring Others
Besides designing buildings, Carme Pinós has also taught architecture. She has been a guest professor at many famous universities. These include the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Columbia University in New York. She also taught at Harvard University and other schools in Europe. Carme Pinós has designed many interesting buildings and public spaces. She created the Pedestrian Bridge in Petrer, Spain. She also designed the Juan Aparicio Waterfront in Torrevieja. Other projects include the Cube Tower in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. She also designed the Gardunya Square in Barcelona. This square includes a housing building and the Massana Fine Arts School.
