Carol Rabadi is a brave and skilled pilot from Jordan. She is one of the first female airline pilots for Royal Jordanian, a big airline. In 2009, she led the first flight where all the crew members were Arab women. This was a very special moment! Carol has flown different types of planes, like the A320. Now, she flies the large B787 aircraft. She also helps make sure everything runs smoothly as the Director of Corporate Quality Management for Royal Jordanian Airlines.
Becoming a Pilot
Carol Rabadi dreamed of becoming a pilot when she was a child. This dream started when she got to sit in the jump seat (an extra seat in the cockpit) on a flight from Cyprus back to Jordan.
To follow her dream, she went to Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University. This university is in Daytona Beach, Florida, USA. There, she studied aeronautical science and earned her degree. After graduating, she joined Royal Jordanian airline in 1999.
First Female Captains
In 2009, Carol Rabadi became the second female Captain in Jordan's history. This was a huge achievement! The very first female Captain in Jordan was Taghreed Akasheh, who became a Captain in 1985.
Flying for Royal Jordanian
When Carol first joined the airline, she worked on the ground for two years. This was a normal step for new pilots at that time. After that, she became a co-pilot. She flew different types of planes for six years, including the Airbus A320 and Airbus A340 families.
Later, she became a Captain for planes in the Embraer E-Jet family. In October 2009, she flew her first flight as a Captain with over 100 passengers. This flight was from Athens, Greece.
All-Female Flight Crew
The flight from Athens in 2009 was also very special. It was the first time Royal Jordanian had an all-female flight crew! Carol Rabadi has led several other all-female flights since then.
Carol is also a member of the Arabian section of the Ninety-Nines. This is an international group for female pilots. Another pilot from Royal Jordanian, Alia Twal, leads this group.
