Carolina Gynning Nilsson (born October 6, 1978) is a famous Swedish personality. She is known for many things! Carolina is a model, author, podcaster, actress, jewelry designer, and television presenter. She started her journey in the spotlight as a model when she was just sixteen.
In 2004, Carolina became very well-known after winning the Swedish version of the TV show Big Brother. Since then, she has built a successful career. She has hosted many shows on Swedish TV channels like TV4 and Kanal5. Carolina is also a talented artist and has written several books. She has appeared in other TV shows, including I huvudet på Gynning ("Inside Gynning's Head"). She even competed as a celebrity dancer in the first season of Let's Dance.

Carolina's Early Life and Journey
Carolina Gynning was born in Helsingborg, Sweden. She lived in Höganäs for a short time. Most of her childhood was spent in Falsterbo. Carolina has shared that she was a shy girl when she was younger. However, she became more outgoing during her teenage years.
She went to high school in Lund. When she was sixteen, a fashion photographer discovered her. This happened while she was waiting at a bus stop in Falsterbo. During her high school years, she took on some modeling jobs. Later, she got modeling work in big international cities. These included Athens, Milan, and Paris. She lived and worked abroad for ten years, mostly as a fashion model.
Becoming a TV Star and Host

After modeling for several years, Carolina was asked to join the Swedish Big Brother show. She entered the house in January 2004. She ended up winning that season!
In 2006, she joined Let's Dance as a celebrity contestant. She was on the first season of the show, which aired on TV4. Her dance partner was Daniel da Silva. They were eliminated in the second round.
Later in 2006, she worked for Viasat's Formula 1 show, Studio F1. At the same time, she was one of five hosts for the TV4 show Förkväll ("Tonight"). In 2007, Carolina hosted the audition part of Idol 2007. She hosted it alongside Carina Berg.
In 2008, Carolina had her own show called I huvudet på Gynning. This show was broadcast on Kanal5. That same year, she also hosted the talent show Hitmakers on the same channel. Towards the end of 2008, she and Carina Berg hosted Stjärnor på is. This was the Swedish version of Stars on Ice.
In 2009, Carolina hosted Hjälp! Jag är med i en japansk TV-show ("Help! I am in a Japanese TV Show!"). This was also on TV4. In the summer of that year, she hosted Sommarkrysset ("The Summer Cruise") with Carina Berg. In 2013, she was one of the celebrity hosts for the radio show Sommar i P1. In 2014, Carolina was a judge on the new season of Talang Sverige 2014 ("Talent Sweden") on TV3.
Carolina as an Actress
Before she joined Big Brother, Carolina appeared in a French film. It was called Happily Ever After (2004). In this movie, she played a character named Zoe. The film even starred Johnny Depp.
In 2012, Carolina played a main role in the film Blondie. She acted alongside talented stars like Marie Göranzon and Helena af Sandeberg. In 2022, she also appeared in the film Triangle of Sadness.
Her Own Show: I huvudet på Gynning
On February 8, 2008, Carolina Gynning released her first music single. It was called "Allt jag tar på blir till guld" ("Everything I touch turns to gold"). In her TV show I huvudet på Gynning, viewers could see her working on the music video for this song.
During the show, Carolina also created her own perfume called "Perfect". She even launched a commercial for it. In the final episode, it was announced that her perfume would be sold in stores. In September 2009, Carolina released another scent, "Go Girl!". This made her the first Swedish woman to have her own perfume and scent line.
Carolina as a Writer
In 2005, Carolina Gynning released her first book, an autobiography called Ego Girl. In this book, she shared her story of being discovered as a model at age sixteen. In 2007, some of her email conversations with Alex Schulman were also published as a book.
At the end of 2008, Carolina worked with writer Ingrid Carlqvist. They wrote a book called Ego Woman. This book was a follow-up to Ego Girl. It was released in 2009.
In 2011, Carolina wrote her first novel. It was titled Laura – flickan från havet ("Laura - girl from the sea"). She got the idea for the book after meeting author Jens Lapidus. Carolina said she wanted to write about women living in a specific area of Stockholm called Stureplan. She described the book as a crime novel. In 2012, she released the next book in the series, Vanessa – flickan i glaskupan ("Vanessa - the girl in the glass dome").
Carolina as an Artist
Carolina Gynning has held several exhibitions to show her artwork. In April 2009, she had an art show at Ystad Saltsjöbad. The exhibition was very successful. She sold 15 pieces of art for a lot of money. Two of her well-known pieces were named Bleeding Barbie and Cat Power.
She has also worked with glass. She designed a glass collection for Cervera, a Swedish homeware store chain. On November 21, 2013, she had an art exhibition at Gothia Towers. She showed her art alongside her mother, Agneta Gynning.
Recently, Carolina and her mother opened an art studio together. It is called Studio Gynning. Carolina has also been planning a special event to celebrate ten years as a professional artist. Besides painting, she is also a jewelry designer. She has shared in an interview that becoming a mother has changed her art. She says her paintings are not as dark now. Before, she mostly drew faces, but now she paints whole bodies. She feels that being a mother has made her a more complete person.
Awards and Recognition
In 2007, Carolina Gynning won a TV award from the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet. She was named Best Female Television Personality of the Year.
In 2008, Aftonbladet listed Carolina among the most powerful people in Sweden. She was placed at number 37 on their list.
Carolina's Family Life
Carolina Gynning comes from a family of artists. Her mother, Agneta Gynning, is also an artist. Her grandfather's brother, Lars Gynning, was an artist and textile designer. He studied under a famous artist named Isaac Grünewald.
In 2013, Carolina and her mother opened an art gallery in Malmö.
Carolina lived with Alexander Lydecker, who is a sales manager. They have two daughters together. They lived in a suburb of Stockholm near the coast. In June 2021, Carolina had her third daughter. Her youngest daughter's father is Viktor Philipson.
