History of Carpigiani
How Carpigiani Started
The Carpigiani company was started in 1944 by two brothers, Bruto and Poerio Carlo Carpigiani. Their first company was called "Gastecnica S.a.s dei fratelli Carpigiani."
Early Inventions
Carpigiani quickly became known for its inventions. They created and patented a special gelato machine called the "Autogelatiera." This machine helped make gelato more easily. Their soft-serve ice cream machines are also very clever. They mix air into the ice cream mix as it's being made. This makes the ice cream light and fluffy!
Becoming a World Leader
In the 1960s, technology grew a lot, and so did Carpigiani. They invented something called the "hard-o-matic." This invention helped Carpigiani become the top company in the world for ice cream machines.
Growing Around the World
Carpigiani kept growing bigger. In 1964, they started a company in the United States called Coldelite U.S.A. Then, in 1971, Carpigiani bought another company that made similar machines, called Cattabriga.
In 1989, a large group called Comenda Ali S.p.A. bought Carpigiani. The company is now known as Carpigiani Group - Ali Group S.r.l.
Quality and Certifications
Carpigiani was the first company in its business to get a special quality certificate in 1993. This certificate, called ISO 9001, means that the company follows high standards for how it makes its products.
Carpigiani Around the Globe
Today, Carpigiani has offices in many countries. These include France, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, China, Singapore, Russia, and two in South America.
Their factories are in different places too. They have plants in Bologna (where their main office is), Forlì, Gandia in Spain, and Zhongshan in China. In the 1990s, Carpigiani also bought other companies that made similar machines. These included Ott-Freezer from Switzerland, Promag from Italy, Sencotel from Spain, and GBG from Italy.
Carpigiani Gelato University
In 2003, Carpigiani started the Carpigiani Gelato University. This is a special school where people can learn how to make traditional Italian gelato. It has become the biggest and most famous gelato school in the world! By 2025, the school had 20 campuses all over the globe. The main school is in Anzola, Italy, and teaches lessons in Italian, English, and French.
Carpigiani Gelato Museum
