Carrizal is a small area, or barrio, located in the town of Aguada, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 970 people lived there. It's a part of the beautiful island of Puerto Rico.

History of Carrizal

Puerto Rico used to be controlled by Spain. After the Spanish–American War in 1898, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened because of a special agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898.

Puerto Rico then became an "unincorporated territory" of the United States. This means it's part of the U.S. but doesn't have all the same rights as a state.

In 1899, the U.S. government did a count of all the people in Puerto Rico. This count is called a census. The census found that Carrizal and a nearby barrio called Espinar had a combined population of 1,010 people.
