History of the Channel
From Boomerang to Cartoonito (2015–2023)
Before Cartoonito, there was a channel called Boomerang. It started in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa in 2005. This included Portugal, Angola, and Mozambique.
In 2013, the European Boomerang channel stopped being available in Portugal. This happened because a new Portuguese version of Cartoon Network started.
Then, on April 21, 2015, a new Boomerang channel just for Portuguese speakers launched. It was available in Angola and Mozambique. Later, on April 26, 2018, it also came to Portugal. You could watch it through TV providers like Vodafone and Nowo. In 2022, it also became available on Meo.
Becoming Cartoonito (2023–Present)
On February 21, 2022, a special block of shows called Cartoonito started playing on Boomerang. These shows were on in the mornings and afternoons.
Because these shows were so popular, Boomerang changed completely. On March 23, 2023, the Boomerang channel officially became a full-time Cartoonito channel.
