Casabó is a lively neighborhood, also called a barrio, located in the big city of Montevideo, Uruguay. It's a special part of the city with its own unique places and history.
Where is Casabó Located?
Casabó is found in the southwestern part of Montevideo. It sits right next to the famous Río de la Plata to the south. This means it has a great view of the water!
To its west, you'll find the Santa Catalina district. To the east, it borders Villa del Cerro. Villa Esperanza is located to the north. Casabó is like an extension of the Villa del Cerro area.

What Can You See in Casabó?
This neighborhood is home to several interesting spots. One of the most famous is the Fortaleza del Cerro. This old fortress stands tall and offers amazing views.
You can also visit the Parque Dr. Carlos Vaz Ferreira. It's a lovely park where you can relax and enjoy nature. There are also the ruins of an old cold storage factory called Frigorífico Swift. Another old factory, Frigorífico Nacional, is also shut down here.
Casabó also has the Club de Golf del Cerro. Plus, a part of the Navy is located in this area. Just west of Casabó, you'll find the Santa Catalina neighborhood. It's right by a beach and the public park of Punta Yeguas.
Places to Visit and Worship
Casabó has a few important places of worship. These are churches where people go for religious services.
- The Parish Church of St. Alberto Hurtado is located at Sierra Leona 144. It is a Roman Catholic church.
- The Parish Church of the Curé of Ars and St Helena is at Av. Antártida Uruguaya 6100. This is also a Roman Catholic church.
