Casnovia is a small village in the state of Michigan, United States. It's unique because it's located right on the border between two counties: Muskegon County and Kent County. This means parts of the village are in each county! In 2020, about 316 people lived in Casnovia.

History of Casnovia
Casnovia was started in 1850 by a person named Lot Fulkerson. Soon after, in 1851, it got its own post office, which helped people send and receive mail.
How Casnovia Became a Village
The village was officially mapped out in 1862. This process is called "platting," and it helps organize the streets and land. Later, in 1875, Casnovia officially became an incorporated village. This means it gained its own local government.
What Does "Casnovia" Mean?
The name "Casnovia" comes from two Latin words. The word case means "home," and nova means "new." So, Casnovia can be thought of as "new home."
Geography and Location
Casnovia is located in the western part of Michigan. It sits partly in eastern Casnovia Township and partly in western Tyrone Township. The main street of the village runs north and south and actually follows the line between the two counties!
Highways Near Casnovia
Two state highways, M-46 and M-37, pass through the southern part of Casnovia. These roads connect the village to other towns and cities.
- M-37 goes south about 22 miles to Grand Rapids, a much larger city. It also goes north about 14 miles to Newaygo.
- M-46 goes west about 23 miles to Muskegon, which is on Lake Michigan. It also goes east about 12 miles to Cedar Springs.
