Ancient Discoveries
In the mid-1800s, an old burial ground and settlement from the ice age were found near the village church. When archaeologists dug it up in 1928, they discovered about 100 graves.
Later, between 1978 and 1980, an even older Stone Age settlement was found in an area called Pian del Remit. This site was underneath the Ice Age findings. It showed signs of early homes, like post holes and places where fires were lit. They also found pieces of pottery and different kinds of rocks and crystals. Scientists believe this site dates back to 2800-1500 BC, covering both the Stone Age and the Bronze Age.
There's also an old stone wall in Pian del Remit. It's hard to say exactly when it was built, but it might be from the Iron Age or even more recently. No one knows for sure if it was a building foundation, a terrace wall, or just a marker.
