Castellote is a small town located in the province of Teruel, in the Aragon region of Spain. In 2010, about 804 people lived there. It's a really old place with a rich history.
This town is built on the side of a mountain. At the very top of the mountain, you can see the ruins of an old castle. This castle was once owned by the Knights Templar. They were a famous group of warrior monks from the Middle Ages. The castle was later damaged during the Carlist Wars, which were conflicts in Spain in the 1800s.
To enter Castellote, you drive through a cool tunnel. This tunnel goes right through a huge rock wall! Near the tunnel entrance, there's a special spot called Llovedor. Here, you'll find the shrine of the Llovedor.
Castellote has kept many parts of its medieval past. Its old town has narrow, winding streets that go up and down hills. The area along the main road is considered a very important historical site. Some interesting places to visit include the Gothic church of San Miguel and the town hall with its arched walkways. There's also the shrine of the Virgen del Agua and an old Gothic fountain. You can even see some houses with special family symbols carved into them. Close to the town are the castle ruins, an old medieval aqueduct, and the Llovedor chapel.
