In 2010, about 4,660 people lived in Cavalero. This community was created in 2010 from parts of another area called West Lake Stevens, Washington.

Before Cavalero became a place where many people live, the area around Cavalero Hill had different plans. In the 2000s, there was talk of building a large shopping center there. It would have been similar to another big shopping area called Frontier Village in Lake Stevens. However, those plans changed, and the area developed into a residential community instead.
