Professional Football Journey
Joining the New York Jets
The New York Jets picked Cedric Houston in the sixth round of the 2005 NFL draft. This meant he would get a chance to play professional football.
When he first started training with the Jets, Cedric faced a challenge. He had a health condition that sometimes made him feel very tired. Doctors found out about this condition and gave him medicine to help.
At the start of the 2005 season, Cedric was a backup player. He played behind experienced running backs like Curtis Martin and Derrick Blaylock. However, injuries changed things. In October 2005, Blaylock broke his foot. This moved Cedric up to the second spot on the team's depth chart. Later, Curtis Martin played with a knee injury for many weeks. Cedric then became the starting running back on December 11. In his first year, he ran for 302 yards and scored two touchdowns.
Later Seasons and New Decisions

On July 26, 2007, Cedric made a big decision. He decided to leave the Jets and professional football. He wanted to go back to the University of Tennessee to finish his college degree. He stayed on the Jets' reserve list for that season. The team officially released him on March 11, 2008.
