Celia Barquín Arozamena (born 6 July 1996 – died 17 September 2018) was a talented Spanish golfer. She was an amateur player, meaning she played for fun and competition, not for money. In 2018, she won a very important competition called the European Ladies Amateur Championship.

Celia's Golf Journey
Celia Barquín Arozamena was born in Puente San Miguel, Spain. She went to school in Torrelavega and Madrid. She trained for two years with the Spanish Sports Council. This helped her become a better golfer.
After that, Celia moved to the United States. She joined the Iowa State Cyclones women's golf team. She played for them from 2014 to 2018. She was so good that she was named the Iowa State University Female Athlete of the Year in 2018.
Playing for Spain
Celia also played golf for her home country, Spain. She was part of the Spanish team at the European Ladies' Team Championship. In 2015, her team finished third. The next year, in 2016, they finished second.
Big Wins and Achievements
In 2018, Celia won the European Ladies Amateur Championship. This big event was held in Slovakia. She played incredibly well, finishing just one stroke ahead of another golfer. During one round, she even set a new course record with a score of 63!
She also qualified for the 2018 U.S. Women's Open. This is a major golf tournament. Even though she didn't make the final cut, it was a great achievement to play there.
A Sad Farewell
Celia was studying civil engineering at Iowa State University. She had just finished her last year of playing golf for the university.
On 17 September 2018, Celia passed away at the Coldwater Golf Links in Ames, Iowa. Her passing was a shock to many.

Honors at Iowa State
On 22 September 2018, Celia was honored at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, Iowa. Before a football game, a video tribute was shown. Everyone also had a moment of silence to remember her. Fans wore her favorite color, yellow, to show their support.
Yellow T-shirts with her initials, CBA, were sold. The money raised went to a special fund called the "Remembering Celia Memorial Fund". Both the Iowa State and Akron Zips football teams wore her initials on their helmets. The Iowa State University marching band even formed her initials, CBA, during their performance.
After her passing, Iowa State University decided to give Celia her civil engineering diploma. This was to honor her hard work and dedication.
Ryder Cup Tribute
Even famous golfers remembered Celia. During the 2018 Ryder Cup, all the players wore yellow ribbons. These ribbons had her name, Celia, on them. This was a way for the golf world to honor her memory.
Remembering Celia Memorial Fund
The Remembering Celia Memorial Fund was created to support Celia's family. All the money collected helps to keep her memory alive.
