Center Point is a small place in Doddridge County, West Virginia, United States. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government.
Center Point is located in the northeastern part of Doddridge County. You can find it along Route 23. It's northeast of West Union, which is the main town and county seat for Doddridge County. The land here is about 791 feet (241 meters) above sea level.
A Bit of History
Over time, Center Point has been known by a few different names. Some of these names include Three Forks of McElroy (or Three Fork), Centerpoint, Centre Point, and Mount Pleasant. In 1964, the official group that names places, the United States Board on Geographic Names, decided that "Center Point" was the correct name and spelling.
Center Point used to have its own post office. It closed on November 2, 2002. However, the area still uses the ZIP code 26339. The community is located near where three smaller streams meet to form McElroy Creek. These streams are called Robinson, Pike, and Talkington Forks.
The Famous Covered Bridge
