About Central Midlands High School
Central Midlands Senior High School first opened its doors in 1971. By 2011, the school had 194 students from Year 8 to Year 12. About 20% of these students were Aboriginal.
School Campus and Facilities
The school is part of a larger education area that includes St James Residential College. This college offers 60 boarding places for students who need to live away from home while attending high school.
In 2005, plans were announced for a new library and telecentre at the school. This new building was designed to be used by both the school and the local community. Construction on this $1.4 million facility began in 2006 and was finished in 2007.
School Leadership and Student Numbers
The principal of Central Midlands Senior High School was Audrey Smith until 2010. After that, Lea Fairfoul-Hutcheon took over the role.
The number of students at the school has stayed fairly steady over the years. For example, there were 188 students in 2007, and 194 students in 2012.
