Château-Thierry is a town in northern France. It is located in the Aisne department, which is part of the Picardy region. The town sits right on the Marne River.

Château-Thierry is famous for two important battles. One happened in 1814 during the Napoleonic Wars, where France fought against Prussia. The other was in World War I in 1918, when the United States and Germany clashed here.

During World War I, a special platform for a huge German cannon called the Paris Gun was found near the castle. The cannon itself was likely moved before it could be discovered.

Exploring Château-Thierry

Château-Thierry is about 56 miles (90 kilometers) away from Paris, the capital city of France. It is built along the Marne River, which flows through the town.
