Early Life and High School Basketball
Chane Behanan grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. When he was a child, his family's home was destroyed in a fire. He and his family then moved in with his grandmother.
His mother later decided that a different environment would be better for him. So, before his junior year of high school, Chane moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky. He played basketball at Bowling Green High School. In his final year, he was amazing on the court. He scored an average of 23.3 points and grabbed 14.4 rebounds per game.
Chane had first planned to play college basketball for Cincinnati. But he changed his mind and decided to play for Louisville. He later said that moving to Louisville was a very good decision for his life.
College Career at Louisville
Chane Behanan joined the Louisville Cardinals basketball team for his freshman year. He quickly became an important player. He averaged 9.5 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. He helped the Cardinals reach the Final Four in the NCAA Tournament. They played well but lost to Kentucky, who won the championship that year.
Chane also did well in his studies. He was a communications major and made the Dean's List during his first two semesters. This shows he was dedicated both on the court and in the classroom.
He returned for his second year, hoping to play in the NBA someday. In his sophomore season, he averaged 9.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. He helped lead the Louisville Cardinals to win the 2013 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. This was a huge win, Louisville's third national championship! However, this championship title was later officially removed by the NCAA.
Before his third season, Chane was temporarily suspended by his coach, Rick Pitino. He was back on the team for the second game of the season. In the games he played that year, he averaged 7.6 points and 6.3 rebounds. Later, in December, he was removed from the team permanently due to a university rule violation.
After leaving Louisville, Chane briefly enrolled at Colorado State University. But he decided to enter the 2014 NBA draft instead of playing for Colorado State.
