Charles's Family Life
First Marriage and Child
In 1434, Charles married Cobella Ruffo, a Countess. They had one son named Jean Louis Marin. Sadly, their son passed away when he was a baby. Cobella herself passed away in 1442.
Second Marriage and Children
Charles married again in 1443. His second wife was Isabelle of Luxembourg. Her father was Peter I of Luxembourg, a powerful Count. Charles and Isabelle had two children:
- Louise of Anjou (1445–1477)
- Charles IV, Duke of Anjou (1446–1481)
There was a disagreement about the area called Guise between Charles and Isabelle's brother, Louis of Luxembourg. It was decided that Isabelle would receive Guise as a special gift when she married.
Charles also had a daughter named Mary of Anjou. She later married Thomas Courtenay, 6th Earl of Devon.
