Charles Edward O'Bannon Sr., born on February 22, 1975, is a former professional basketball player from America. He played college basketball for the UCLA Bruins. He was chosen as a top player in the Pac-10 conference twice. He and his brother, Ed O'Bannon, helped the Bruins win a national championship in 1995. O'Bannon played for two seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the Detroit Pistons. He also played basketball in other countries like Japan, Poland, and Italy.

College Basketball Career
Charles O'Bannon played college basketball for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Bruins. He was a star player, often playing as a small forward or shooting guard. In the 1994–95 season, he was a starter on the team that won the NCAA championship in 1995.
O'Bannon was named to the first-team All-Pac-10 in both 1996 and 1997. He was also voted as the co-Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the Bruins in those same years. His older brother, Ed O'Bannon, who also played in the NBA, was his teammate at UCLA.
While playing for Team USA, Charles O'Bannon won a gold medal. This happened at the 1995 World University Games.
Professional Basketball Journey
Charles O'Bannon was picked by the Detroit Pistons in the 1997 NBA draft. He was the 31st player chosen overall. He played for the Pistons for two seasons before he was released from the team. His highest score in an NBA game was 14 points. This happened on April 14, 1999, against the Charlotte Hornets.
After his time in the NBA, O'Bannon continued his professional basketball career overseas. He played in different leagues in Italy, Poland, and Japan. He finished his playing career in 2013. In 2000, he helped his team, Śląsk Wrocław, win the Polish championship. He was also named the MVP of the Finals that year.
In April 2004, he joined a strong Italian team called Benetton Treviso. There, he played alongside Tyus Edney, another former UCLA player. While playing for coach John Patrick in Japan, O'Bannon won the championship title in the JBL Super League in 2006. He was also named to the 2006–07 JBL first team. In 2007, he won the JBL Super League championship again with the Alvark team. This time, the team was coached by Torsten Loibl. O'Bannon was recognized as the Asia-basket.com 2006–07 All-JBL Super League Player of the Year.
Coaching Career
In 2018, Charles O'Bannon became a head coach. He coached the Seattle Ballers in the Junior Basketball Association (JBA). He also served as an assistant coach for the JBA USA Team. This team went on an international tour in 2018. He also worked as an assistant coach at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas.
Family Life
Charles O'Bannon has a half-brother named Turhon O'Bannon. Turhon was a professional football player in the Canadian Football League.
Charles O'Bannon is also the father of Chuck O'Bannon Jr..
He is the younger brother of former NBA player Ed O'Bannon.
