College Basketball Journey
Starting at Mississippi State
When Charles Rhodes first joined Mississippi State University as a freshman, he didn't play much. He faced some challenges, like being late for practices. Also, a senior All-American player, Lawrence Roberts, played in his position. Charles played in 16 games, averaging about 3 points and 2 rebounds. After his first year, he thought about leaving the team. But after talking with his coach, Rick Stansbury, he decided to stay.
Sophomore Year Success
Charles's second year was much better. The team was young, so he became a key player. He started in 25 games and was a team leader. He scored about 14 points per game and led the team with 7 rebounds per game. Because of his great play, he was named to the Second Team All-SEC. This award recognized him as one of the best players in the Southeastern Conference.
Junior Year and NBA Draft Consideration
In his junior year, Charles was expected to be a top player. He was even named a preseason defensive player of the year for the SEC. He started 25 games again, averaging about 14 points and 6 rebounds. He hurt his wrist during a game, which affected his play for a short time. But he recovered and played very well in conference games, averaging over 15 points. He scored more than 20 points in seven games that season. He also had two "double-doubles," meaning he scored double digits in points and rebounds in the same game.
With Charles's help, the Bulldogs made it to the semi-finals of the NIT. They lost a close game to West Virginia. For the third time, Charles was named to the postseason Second Team All-SEC. After his junior year, Charles thought about entering the 2007 NBA draft. He didn't hire an agent, which allowed him to return to college if he wasn't drafted. He decided to withdraw his name from the draft to improve his game and earn his degree.
Senior Year Goals
In his final year at Mississippi State, Charles aimed to score over 1000 career points. He needed only 87 more points to reach this goal. He and teammate Jamont Gordon formed a strong duo for the team. Charles had only played in the NCAA tournament once, during his freshman year. He hoped to lead the Bulldogs back to the tournament in his senior season.
Professional Basketball Career
After college, Charles Rhodes began his professional career. He played for many teams around the world.
Playing in South Korea

Playing in Europe
On April 3, 2012, Charles signed with CAI Zaragoza in Spain. Later that summer, he moved to Turkey to play for Royal Halı Gaziantep in the Turkish Basketball League.
Return to Asia and Championship Win
In the summer of 2013, Charles returned to South Korea. He was drafted by the Incheon ET Land Elephants. In March 2017, he joined the San Miguel Beermen in the Philippines. He helped the team win the 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup championship in six games.
