Charlie Ayers (born July 5, 1966) is a famous American chef. He also writes cookbooks and owns restaurants. He was the main chef for Google from 1999 to 2006. Many people wrote about his work at Google. A book called The Google Story even has a whole chapter about him! When he left Google in 2006, Charlie and his team of 150 people were making 4,000 meals every day! They cooked for Google employees in 10 different cafes at the company's main office in Mountain View, California.

His Early Life and School
Charlie Ayers was born in Chicago in 1966. He grew up in Brooklyn and Parsippany, New Jersey. He finished high school in Parsippany in 1985.
Becoming a Chef
Charlie Ayers started his cooking career in the 1980s. He was a private chef for the famous rock band Grateful Dead. After that, he worked for Hilton Hotels in New Jersey.
Later, he went to culinary school at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island. He graduated in 1990. After school, he worked as a chef in restaurants in Providence and Boston. Then, he moved to California. There, he cooked at places like Stoddard's Brewhouse in Sunnyvale and the Blue Chalk Cafe in Palo Alto.
Cooking for Google
From 1999 to 2006, Charlie Ayers was the main chef at Google's headquarters in Mountain View, California. He got the job after winning a cooking contest. The judges were the 40 people who worked at Google at that time!
Charlie Ayers earned a lot of money from his work at Google. He reportedly made about $26 million from Google stock options. This means he owned a part of the company, and when Google did well, his shares became very valuable.
Opening His Own Restaurant
On January 20, 2009, Charlie Ayers opened his own restaurant called Calafia Café in Palo Alto. It also had a market section called Calafia Market a Go Go. This restaurant stayed open until August 2018. The money to start Calafia Café came from former Google employees and people who worked for Cisco.
