Charul Malik's Early Life
Charul Malik was born in Delhi, India, in 1985. Her family originally came from Faridabad in Haryana. Soon after she was born, her parents moved to Chandigarh. Her father, G.S. Malik, is a respected lawyer, and her mother, Asha Malik, is a teacher. Charul has a twin sister named Parul and a younger brother named Gaurav.
When she was growing up, Charul spent a lot of time watching television with her family. Back then, Doordarshan was the main TV channel. She looked up to famous news anchors like Salma Sultan and Nalini Singh, who inspired her. After finishing Class 10, she studied arts in Class 12 and then earned a degree in law (BA HONS with LL.B.).
Her Exciting TV Career
Becoming a Journalist
Charul Malik started her journey in television at Jain TV News Channel. She got her first job there through an open interview. She quickly became known as one of the best news readers in the growing TV industry. Even famous TV personalities like Prannoy Roy and Vinod Dua praised her clear and smooth way of speaking. Charul has said that their compliments made her feel more confident and inspired her to do even better.
Before joining STAR News (which is now called ABP News), Charul also worked at Sahara Samay Channel. She became one of the main anchors at STAR News, delivering news regularly since 2006.
Stepping into Acting
After a successful career in journalism, Charul decided to try something new: acting! She has appeared in popular TV shows, including Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!. This shows how talented and versatile she is, being able to switch from reporting news to playing different characters on screen.
Awards and Special Achievements
Charul Malik has achieved some really cool things during her career!
- She is the only news anchor in the world who has ever done a live interview while on roller skates! This amazing feat was even recognized by the Limca Book of Records, which lists incredible achievements.
- In 2014, Charul won the News Television Award for "The Best News Anchor Entertainment." This award recognized her excellent work in presenting entertainment news.
- She also won the MY CITY award for the Best Entertainment News Anchor for the year 2014-2015.
- Charul was nominated for the Best Anchor award at the AVTA (Asian Viewers Television Awards). She did very well, making it to the final round, where she was just narrowly beaten by another famous journalist, Barkha Dutt.
