Early Life and High School Sports
Chase Claypool grew up in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada. He went to Abbotsford Senior Secondary School. During his time there, he was a talented athlete. He played both basketball and football.
Chase set many school records for catching passes in football. After high school, many top colleges in the United States wanted him to play for them. He decided to join the University of Notre Dame to play college football.
College Football Career
Chase Claypool started playing for Notre Dame in 2016. In his first year, he played in 12 games. He caught 5 passes for 81 yards. He also led his team in special teams tackles.
In 2017, his second year, he started 8 games. He caught 29 passes for 402 yards and scored 2 touchdowns. By 2018, he was a junior. He started 12 games and was second on the team in catches. He had 50 catches for 639 yards and 4 touchdowns.
In his senior year in 2019, Chase became Notre Dame's top receiver. He had an amazing season. He caught 66 passes for 1,037 yards. He also scored 13 touchdowns.

Professional Football Career
Chase Claypool began his professional career in 2020. He was chosen by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the second round of the NFL draft. He was the 49th player picked overall.
Pittsburgh Steelers
On July 22, 2020, Chase signed a four-year contract with the Steelers. This was his first professional contract. In his second game, he caught an 84-yard touchdown pass. The Steelers won that game.
In Week 5, he had a fantastic game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He caught passes for 110 yards. He also scored four touchdowns in total. Three were from catching passes, and one was from running with the ball. This was a career high for him. He was the first Steelers rookie to score four touchdowns in one game. For this great performance, he was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week.
Chase had a very successful first year. He caught 62 passes for 873 yards. He scored 9 receiving touchdowns and 2 rushing touchdowns. He was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team. In the playoffs, he scored two more touchdowns.
In 2021, his second season, he played in 15 games. He had similar receiving yards to his rookie year. However, he only scored two touchdowns. In one game against the Minnesota Vikings, he celebrated a first down. This celebration took time off the clock. The Steelers were trying to score but ran out of time and lost.
Chicago Bears
On November 1, 2022, Chase was traded to the Chicago Bears. The Bears gave up a draft pick to get him.
During his time with the Bears, Chase faced some challenges. He was criticized for his effort in a game. He later apologized to his teammates and coaches. By Week 4, he shared that he felt frustrated. He believed the coaching staff was not putting him in the best position to succeed. Because of this, the Bears decided to keep him off the field for some games. He was told to stay home while the team looked for a new team for him.
He played in ten games for the Bears. He caught 18 passes for 191 yards and one touchdown.
Miami Dolphins
On October 6, 2023, the Bears traded Chase to the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins also received a future draft pick. In his first game with the Dolphins, he caught one pass for 15 yards.
Buffalo Bills
On May 3, 2024, Chase signed a one-year contract with the Buffalo Bills. However, he was later placed on injured reserve because of a toe injury. He was then released from the team.
