Chaudhry Amir Hussain was born on June 22, 1942. His birthplace was Jammu. This area was part of a princely state at the time.
Early Life and Education
In 1947, his family moved to Sialkot in Pakistan. He went to the University of the Punjab. There, he earned two degrees: a Master of Arts (M.A.) and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB). After finishing his studies, he became a lawyer. Today, he is a lawyer for the Supreme Court of Pakistan. This is the highest court in the country.
Starting His Political Journey
Chaudhry Amir Hussain began his career in politics in 1985. He was elected as a Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan. This is like being a representative in the country's parliament. He represented his local area, called a constituency, for five terms. He also served as a Federal Minister. This role involved overseeing laws, justice, and parliamentary affairs for the government.

Chaudhry Amir Hussain took on a very important role in 2002. He became the Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan.

A Big Moment in 2007
In October 2007, a significant event happened. Many lawmakers, about 85 of them, resigned from parliament. They did this to try and stop President Pervez Musharraf from being re-elected. The parliament was supposed to choose the new president soon after. Chaudhry Amir Hussain, as the Speaker, stated that these resignations would not stop the presidential election from happening.
After His Time as Speaker
After his term as Speaker ended, Chaudhry Amir Hussain ran for election again. In the February 2008 parliamentary election, he was defeated in his constituency in Sialkot.
