Chaudhry Amir Hussain (born 22 June 1942) is a Pakistani politician. He served as the 17th Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan. This important role lasted from 2002 to 2008.

Early Life and Education
Chaudhry Amir Hussain was born in Jammu on June 22, 1942. In 1947, his family moved to Sialkot, a city in Pakistan.
He attended the University of the Punjab. There, he earned degrees in both arts (M.A.) and law (LLB). After his studies, he became a lawyer. He is now a lawyer who can argue cases in the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Political Career
Chaudhry Amir Hussain began his journey in politics in 1985. He was elected as a Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan. This means he became a representative for his local area.
He served his home area five times in the National Assembly. He also held a very important job as the Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs. This role involves making sure laws are fair and helping the parliament work smoothly.
Speaker of the National Assembly
From 2002 to 2008, Chaudhry Amir Hussain was the Speaker of the National Assembly. The Speaker is like the referee in a debate. They lead the meetings of the parliament. They make sure rules are followed and everyone gets a chance to speak.
In October 2007, a political event happened. Many lawmakers from the opposition parties resigned from parliament. They did this to protest the upcoming presidential election. As Speaker, Chaudhry Amir Hussain stated that these resignations would not stop the election from happening.
Later Political Life
In the February 2008 parliamentary election, Chaudhry Amir Hussain ran for re-election. However, he was not successful in winning his seat in Sialkot.
